Silent Hope

Hey everyone,

the year's slowly coming to an end and I thought it'd be about time to update this blog. Fall came on quickly and I wasn't prepared so I caught a bit of a cold and had to lay low for a week or so. It's been more than one year since my first album Boneyard was released and I've started to close that chapter and think about the future. It's been quite a ride from learning to play bass and guitar, learning to write songs and playing gigs in punk and metal bands to finally realizing that dream and write a few slow and intimate pieces for my own album.

Earlier this year I felt a little stuck in my writing and thought it'd be a good time to make some music with other people, so I went and called Chris to resurrect Silent Hope, which has been put on ice about a year ago. And it worked. I came up with a bunch of songs and we worked them out together and recently released our debut song In My Hell, which was also used in the trailer to the lovely Emily Byrons third book. We're happy with the response people have shows us so far and we're writing more songs and re-working some old ones at the moment. It feels good, but there's always two sides of the coin. Spending energy on Silent Hope made me delay working on the next solo release I was working on. I'll definately pick it up and finish it sometime soon, as soon as possible. So that's about it for now, nothing else new to report. Check out the Silent Hope song In My Hell below, it might not be everyones cup of tea who liked my acoustic numbers, but it's a bit of a nod towards The Sisters Of Mercy, Bauhaus, Paradise Lost and some other Goth Rock bands I like a lot.

Have a good rest of the year, hope to be back with some more new music soon!
Oh, and have a great Halloween everyone!

New Songs

Ladies & Gentlemen,

apologize the silence around here lately. I just haven't had too much to tell since "Boneyard" came out. I've played a bunch of gigs that went well, I'm happy with how Boneyard turned out, and my mind is set on new things. Over christmas I took a while to spend time with family and friends, now I'm back working on music. I picked up the bass guitar, jamming a few rock songs with two guys I met. Also, I dropped one solo album I was working on in September because sometimes you just can't work out songs if you're not feeling up to it. Fall was a very dark time. Those songs are in the drawer and I'll get back to them when I feel like it. Instead I drew inspiration from my trip to Spain and wrote a bunch of songs there.

I've been listening to a lot of great stuff. Warren Zevon, love his songs. I went and saw Mark Lanegan for the second time a few days ago, he was amazing. I met him after the show but didn't say anything. I mean, what do you say to a guy like Mark Lanegan? Right now the sun's come out for the first time in months and I'm feeling relaxed, listening to Townes Van Zandt. I can't wait for spring, enough with the freezing cold already. I'm sure most of you feel the same.

Click HERE to listen to a demo of my song "Desperado" which will be on the next release, whatever it's called.
